Pedigree

Hors la Loi's sire Papillon Rouge was a top level GP horse himself under Xavier Leredde, winning a gold medal at the 1990 Mediterrean Games, being on the winning french team at the Nations Cups of Rotterdam and Luxembourg and being champion of France in 1993. He has been a really top class jumping sire producing the likes of 'Mozart des Hayettes' (Ml Whitaker) winner of the GP of Toronto '07, the Nations Cup of Hickstead and 4th in the GP 5 star of Calgary in '06, 'Tressor' (Steve Guerdat) winner of the GP-W of Zurich, and the 5 star GPs of Rotterdam and Lyon, 'Fleche Rouge' (Samantha McIntosch) twice winner of the 5 star Valkenswaard GP and 'Helios de la Cour' (Alexis Gaultier) winner of the GP of St Lo 2004. Hors la Loi's dam's line is one of the best there is in frence showjumping breeding. His granddam 'Bouree' is by the anglo arab 'Nickel' who is a full brother to 'Nithard' the dams sire of 'Quick Star' and 'Olisco'. Bouree herself produced 4 Nations Cup horses in 'Narcotique' (Pierre Durand), P'Tit Pol' (Annick Chenu), 'Ulane du Plessis' (Leslie Howard) and 'Venus du Plessis' (Annick Chenu) and 5 other domestic GP jumpers. Mother 'Ariane du Plessis'  also produced the international jumper 'Ecu de Mieukestelt' for Tony Andre Hansen)

Performance

Ridden in his early international career by Rodrigo Pessoa, Hors la Loi won a 1m60 class at Stuttgart and a 1m45 class at Vejer de la Fronterra. He then transferred to Hugo Simon's stable for whom he won a 1m50 class in Vienna but mainly competed successfully at 1m45 level winning at Munich, Saltzburg, Vienna, Porto and Offenburg amongst others.

Progeny

Hors la Loi only had small numbers of offspring yet still produced a significant number of quality jumpers, the most successful of which is 'Verdi III' (Pius Schwitzer) winner of the German Masters in Stuttgart and the San Giovanni GP, and 1m50 class wins at Linz, Donaueschingen and Estoril in 2011, now with Tiffany Foster having superb 5 star 1m60 results like 6th GPw Wellington '14, 5th GP Calgary & top results at Barcelona & Geneva.. 'Untouchable' (Daniel Deusser) winns in 1m50 classes at Vienna and Vichy and placed in the GCT GP of Rio de Janeiro 2011, the GP-W of 5 star Mechelen 2010 and was also placed in the 5 star GPs of Paris, Helsinki and La Coruna, 'Vocas' (McLain Ward) winner of the Fairfield GP, 2nd in the North Salem GP and winner of 1m60 classes at Calgary and the Hampton Classic and 'Woodstock' (Laura Kraut) winner of the 7/8 yr old classes at Dublin and Aachen and winner of 1m50 classes at Antwerp, Rotterdam and Toronto. . etc

Breeding Suggestions

Hors La Loi III was a blood horse who jumped with great sharpness and all round technique and was very careful. Many of these traits he passes onto his offspring. He is best suited by tall mares with some power and scope and ideally a placid temperament.
